Denise Rolark Barnes is the publisher of The Washington Informer, serving the African American community in the Washington metropolitan area. She is a second-generation publisher, succeeding her father, Dr. Calvin W. Rolark, who founded the newspaper in 1964. Rolark Barnes is chairperson of the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), a national trade association representing more than 200 African American owned newspapers across the U.S. As chair, she helped to establish a strategic partnership between the NNPA and the National Association of Hispanic Publications aimed at promoting mutual issues and advertising targeting our respective readerships.
