Mario Gamboa is originally from Lima, Peru, with a degree in Sociology and a graduate in Business Administration. He is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Literacy in Spanish (CENAES), a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness over the illiteracy rate that until this day topples over 32 million in America. Before arriving in the US, he worked in the banking industry. CENAES started in the basement of a house with 2 students in 2003. In 15 years, he has taught reading and writing to more than 600 adults from 18 to 90 years. CENAES has seven venues for free classes, and is supported by 25 volunteer teachers.

Él es fundador y director ejecutivo del Centro de Alfabetización en Español, (CENAES), una organización sin fines de lucro que busca concientizar al público sobre el porcentaje de analfabetismo en EEUU que afecta a 32 millones de personas. Antes de llegar a Estados Unidos trabajó en banca. CENAES empezó en el sótano de una casa con dos estudiantes en 2003. En 15 años ha enseñado a leer y escribir a más de 600 personas adultas entre 18 y 90 años. Tiene siete centros de clases gratuitas y cuenta con el apoyo de 25 profesores voluntarios.
