Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Martin “Marty” Baron has served as the Executive Editor of The Washington Post since January 2013. He oversees The Post’s print and digital news operations and a staff of more than 800 journalists. Previously, he had been editor of the Boston Globe for 11 and a half years. Under his strategic leadership as well as through his effective coverage, The Globe won six Pulitzer Prizes — The Post has already won nine as well with his involvement. Awards won during his career include, but are not limited to: Fourth Estate Award, National Press Club, 2018; Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism, 2019; and he is set to receive the International Center for Journalist’s Founders Award for Excellence in Journalism later this year, the organization’s most prestigious award.
