Taína Caragol joined the National Portrait Gallery in 2013 as the first curator for Latino art and history. In 2015 her role was expanded to Curator of Painting and Sculpture as well. Caragol has led the effort to increase the representation of Latino historical figures and artists at the museum, adding over 170 portraits to the collection and making sure that Latino contributions to American history and art are interwoven through the museum’s exhibitions and permanent collection. Before working at the National Portrait Gallery, Caragol was the curator of education at Museo de Arte de Ponce, Puerto Rico. She was the Museum of Modern Art’s Latin American bibliographer from 2004–2007.
Taína Caragol se unió a la National Portrait Gallery en 2013 como la primera curadora de Arte e Historia Latinoamericana. En 2015, su papel se amplió también a curadora de Pintura y Escultura. Caragol ha liderado el esfuerzo por aumentar la representación de las figuras y artistas históricos latinos en el museo, agregando más de 170 retratos a la colección y asegurándose de que las contribuciones de los latinos a la historia y el arte estadounidenses se incorporen a través de las exposiciones y la colección permanente del museo. Antes de trabajar en la National Portrait Gallery, Caragol fue curadora de educación en el Museo de Arte de Ponce, Puerto Rico. Ella fue la bibliógrafa latinoamericana del Museum of Modern Art de 2004 a 2007.
