A native of New York and a graduate of St. John’s University, Hector Torres has been a hotel executive for the past 51 years and was the Vice President of Capital Hotels. In 2018, he formed Absolute Hospitality LLC with Jay Haddock and presently sits on the board of Carlos Rosario, GALA Hispanic Theater, and Community Capital Corporation. Over the past 30-plus years, he has supported these organizations in fundraising and business strategies. An avid artist, he has had several local exhibits of his work. Torres has been recognized by the Washington Business Journal and received the Mayor’s Art Award for “Art for Life” a fundraiser for Whitman Walker Clinic to raise funds for Latino HIV/AIDS programs. He has been a resident of WDC since 1980.
