Hugo and Rebecca Medrano are GALA Hispanic Theatre’s co-founders. For the past 43 years, they have dedicated their lives to promote the Latino arts and cultures with a diverse audience by developing and producing works that explore the breadth of Latino performing arts. Their hope is to preserve the rich Hispanic heritage for generations that follow. Since 1976, GALA has staged over 230 productions in both Spanish and English. It maintains free education programs for multicultural youth, brings bilingual theater to children, and makes theater in Spanish accessible to over 9,000 youth from low-income families yearly.
Hugo y Rebecca Medrano son los co-fundadores de GALA Hispanic Theatre. Durante los últimos 43 años, han dedicado sus vidas a promover las artes y las culturas latinas con un público diverso, desarrollando y produciendo obras que exploran la amplitud de las artes escénicas latinas. Su deseo es preservar la rica herencia hispana para las futuras generaciones. Desde 1976, GALA ha presentado más de 230 producciones tanto en español como en inglés. Mantiene programas de educación gratuitos para jóvenes multiculturales, ofrece teatro bilingüe a los niños y hace que el teatro en español sea accesible para más de 9.000 jóvenes de familias de bajos ingresos cada año.
